WHAT IS COACHING?
Coaching is a collaborative relationship, which connects at the deep personal level of beliefs, values and vision. This collaborative relationship accelerates the process of great performance; it’s about individuals’ and/or organizations’ identifying purpose and living out of that purpose. When people are actively seeking meaning and solutions, they value partnership and support that assists them in accomplishing their goals and objectives. Coaching is a journey of personal and professional discovery.
WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN CONSULTING, THERAPY, AND COACHING?
Consulting: The focus is on problem-solving, action plans, strategies, and accomplishing specific, significant goals. Focus is on the expertise of the consultant. The consultant can make the difference between success and failure by filling a gap the client has in knowledge, skills, or experience. Solving present day problems in service of achieving desired goals for the future. Providing teaching and mentoring to develop abilities and expertise.
Therapy: The focus is often on understanding patterns of feeling and behavior, reliving childhood experiences, releasing feelings associated with past trauma, abuse, or loss. Focus is often on the guidance of the therapist, until the client is ready to guide his/her own life. Past-oriented in service of freeing the client from the past—so she can choose new possibilities in the future.
Coaching: Focus is on learning through action. It’s on the partnership between self-discovery and sustainable action. It’s on the client creating a fulfilling life. Focus is on the inner guidance of the client and the process of self-discovery. The coach has the questions, the client discovers the answers. Future-oriented in service of making the present come alive. Focusing on the client’s biggest dreams and deepest desires for her life and making them come true right now.
THE BENEFITS OF COACHING/AND-OR CONDITIONS THAT BRING PEOPLE TO COACHING:
How many sessions will it take to reach my goal?
The number of Coaching sessions will be determined by you, your desire to change, your willingness to invest your time in yourself, and the number of goals that you wish to reach. Some clients seek coaching for only one goal and others have multiple goals. Typically, it is recommended that a new client consider a minimum of 3 to 6 sessions to start.
Are Coaches licensed?
No, there is no licensing requirement in this profession. Many people refer to themselves as Coaches, but are, in fact, Consultants. There are, however, strict standards to be a member of the International Coaching Federation stating with the accreditation of the school attended to obtain training.
What are the benefits of professional coaching?
If you are ready to make a change in your life then professional coaching can help you with self-discovery to achieve your goals. While coaching does work and is accelerated with the use of Hypnosis, it is not magic and results will not occur overnight in most cases.
